Staggered formation should be maintained except on narrow roads when riders should use single-file formation.
Maintain a 2 second gap behind the bike ahead in the same lane.
Maintain a 1 second gap behind the bike ahead in the alternate lane.
Allow for more following distance as road cinditions require.
Avoid leaving gaps between bikes so vehicles cut through or into formation unless mini-grouping has been decided on by road captians.
Maintain your lane position unless you need to move over to fill a gap in the formation.
Newer riders should be placed with experianced riders near the middle of the group.
Passing other vehicles should be done one-by-one.
The lead bike should not attempt to initiate passing unless he/she estimates that there will be sufficient room and time to allow the entire mini-group to pass safely.
Hand signals should be understood by every rider in the group and passed back when used by the lead riders.(Especially imporatnt with debris in the road or with sudden changes/stopping).
If you leave the group inform the group leader.
If you become seperated from the group, stay on the designated route.
Emergency Pull-Off:Signal your intentioins to the bike following and proceed to the shoulder.
A road captian behind will pull-off to render assistance.
The ramaning bikes should stay on the road to continue to the next rest stop or designated stop, whichever comes first.
Each rider is responsible for being well rested, having their cycle in proper working condition with a full tank of gas (and an empty bladder) before Chapter rides.
Be preparred for inclement weather.
For the saftey of the froup, riders should seperate drinking alcoholic beverages and riding. (Wait until the bikes are parked for the rest of the day.)
